The horns that Stereo Lab make are very good, especially considering the relatively modest prices. I bought the "Ultra-Fi" version of the 140Hz horns and they are of course not completely free of resonance ….Present system consi...
I have to admit that since the torch of sane sounding horn-loaded loudspeakers nowadays in my hands (among the outspoken people with web presences) I feel sort of an obligation to comment about new interesting species ...

Be, if you look at the picture of the S2 then you will see that between the exit of the phase plug and beginning of throat there is a circular channel that violates my view of proper transition in compression driver. This channel is on the side o...

Window needs to be sealed with non resonant baffle. 416's sound spectacular in inf baffle ! May be possible to horn load to a corner using standardgood design precedents with good throat coupling like my previous pictureThis picture: Back of 416's in...

With "1ms window" you mean the sweep duration? I left it at the standard 5ms. I'll tighten the throat and do another sweep with 5ms and 1ms to compare what's going on.And maybe even listen to music.......

Hello!Could anyone please advise me as to the recommended rear chamber volume for a Le C'leach horn with a throat of 240cm2, mouth of 7089cm2, length of 47cm, cutoff of 160Hz, T of 0.8? I'm thinking of using a Beyma 122Nd which has a sd of 530, Bl o...

Hi Romy,The horn is 140Hz, tractrix, with a 4 inch throat. I am certainly not looking to improve on the 8M, in fact I have one driver already, but have not been able to find another for many months, at least the usual places. Where do you see them cr...

Part 2 – Description and explanation
Anyone who have ears and a rudimental mind to understand what ears register, and anyone among them who played with MF channels driven by SET, know that subject of SET loading is imperative.
Let take for...

first post... but I recognize quite a few friends here.. so, my straight horns... I like them very much.. I built mine similar in style to what Greg B linked, but obviously much smaller.. mine are just under eight feet long (length of a sheet&nb...
Did I ever mention my sulphur hexafluoride idea to you? You fill a horn with this gas, sealing the front with some loose fitting heavy grade mylar or whatever. The horn can then be 44% of the size you'd otherwise need.
Hm, ...

You're using a phase plug? Why? To try to get it to go higher? If using parallel drivers, and doubling Sd, it may be necessary to change throat area to not damage drivers... The third design type sounds quite differe...

This is an article from Thomas Dunker's site (available in my Links Section) and presumably written by him. Although I slightly disagree with some of the statements he made about the horns “imaging” and some others but generally it is very good...

Just put some whizer flaps on the back of the B515 diaphrams , a pair of mandolins in the bas horns, a pair of jew harps in the midrange throat and some old and crunchy oxidized alufoil in the treble and the whole thing would integrate by tuning the...

What I can say after audition of 2-way system with GPA 288 in 350hz horn and JBL 2453 in 550hz horn is that I like the sound without GPA 288.1-way JBL 2453 sounds terrific and 288 can't match that level. So, driver for 1200hz down is under considerati...

I do not think it will work. The horn will extend some MF response but only if it in open air, where I think the volume or ringing is not an issue. However as the phone in a pocket, the location when the volume of ringing would be nice to boost, the ...

Romy, I often work with materials like this, for specialized restoration and reinforcement projects, and I have used it for my own speakers, as well. You mention ~ 1/2" thickness, and indeed thickness is an important consideration in selecting most o...

I have seen Beyma rewrite their specs when they redo a driver and even add a letter to the driver for that change, even if it is the same driver. Now I have seen variable FS responses form different drivers of the same model also. I was joking with a...

Actually if that horn would not be bending atop, go for another couple feet vertically, consequentially has a smaller throat and of course has a strong back chamber then it would be a very good J-horn (presumably that the walls and joints are not res...

Romy - forget pulling the throat protectors out... just blast them out with a cheesy 1812 and have the canon shots modulate the lights... Solves the issue of the ceremonial initiation too in secular fashion...Seriously though, I can't wait to hear (v...

So they will need some "teaching".The most difficult students are often the most promising. Are you able to say whether the problem is due to the horn position relative to the room, or to throat diameter relative to the driver diameter?jd*...

Romy, I just got a Vitavox S2 into my shop today. I notice that it has a very heavy stainless screen on the front, do you leave the screen on when using the drivers? It looks like it restricts about 50% or more of the throat exit.Rich Drysdale...
